Dr. Tammy McHugh

PT, DPT, GCS, SFS

Home Care Clinical Training and Excellence

Dr. Tammy McHugh has more than a decade of orthopedic physical therapy experience and is well-known for her mastery of all orthopedic conditions. Tammy has actively pursued her passion for emergency medicine at our clinic, and is the leader of our Cardiac Physical Therapy program — which has greatly improved the quality of life of each and every participant! Pursuing excellence is very important to Tammy and she most recently has become Board Certified in Geriatric Physical Therapy. She has a true passion for the geriatric population especially in helping them to maintain their independence and activity level! Because of this passion she has also received her Senior Fitness Specialist certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practioner. Utilizing this taping allows her to augment her manual therapy skills in order to facilitate the bodies natural healing process.

Tammy began her career at Quinnipiac University, excelling academically and graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Physical Therapy. She later graduated from A.T. Still University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has experienced both inpatient and outpatient realms at a very prestigious hospital. After trying her hand – quite literally – on all sides of the profession, she returned to her love of outpatient work at WOPT. Tammy’s compassionate and comprehensive care has led her to fulfill two critical roles for the APTA as a Co-Advocate for Geriatrics in N.J. and being elected the Balance and Falls Community Outreach Liaison for the national APTA. Along with her extensive clinical expertise, Tammy is also amicable, warm, and a fantastic listener; patients always feel at ease throughout their therapy sessions with her.

Tammy is a full-time mom to her two young sons: devoted big brother Sean and energetic little Colin. She truly enjoys this exciting and challenging part of her life. In her free time, Tammy always looks forward to planning the next big event for family and friends, training for her next 5K, and participating in her church’s activities. Tammy lives in Pompton Lakes, where you’ll often bump into her running in a local 5K race, cheering for one of her kids at a sporting event, or shopping at the local food store.
